WKBX (FM) Station Profile


WKBX (FM) is a Class A FM facility licensed by the Federal Communications Commision to Kingsland, Georgia, and operates on an assigned frequency of 106.3 MHz with a maximum power output of 6,000 watts. The antenna is side mounted at the 330 foot level (center of radiation) of the station's 340 foot tower. The 3,000 square foot building, which houses the station's offices, studios, and transmitter,was expressly designed and built as a radio station complex (See also Station Tour ). Radio Station WKBX (FM) began regular program operation on February 23, 1987.

Hot County Hits, K-BAY 106 programs a modern country format, featuring a unique mix of familiar hot current hits of today combined with the very best of country nostalgic memories (See also America's Best Country). WKBX (FM) is an affiliate of the ABC Radio Network.

Station commercial production facilities include two-track ¼" stereo mastering , minidisc mastering, cassette duplication, and a versatile library of compact disc music beds and production sound effects. WKBX (FM) commercial production and traffic has MP3 upload and download capabilities.

WKBX (FM) has been the recipient of numerous local and state awards for excellence in programming and public service, including the Georgia Tourism Board's 1989 Radio Station of the year and three time winner of the Georgia Assocation of Broadcaster's Class "A" Radio Station of the Year award (1991, 1993 & 1996).

WKBX-FM is a member in good standing in the Camden-Kings Bay Area Chamber of Commerce; the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce; and the Greater Nassau Chamber of Commerce.. WKBX (FM) is locally owned and operated by Radio King's Bay, Inc., a Georgia Corporation.The officers of the corporation, who together hold 100% of the voting stock, are James U. and Wendy L. Steele. WKBX (FM) was acquired by its current ownership on July 1, 1989.
